Q4 2023 Insights: Top City Building Games on iOS in France

In the fourth quarter of 2023, the city building game genre has seen varying performances across top titles on the iOS platform in France. Sensor Tower's data gives us a glimpse into the download, revenue, and active user trends for these applications.

Isekai:Slow Life from Mars Era Limited experienced a notable decline in downloads over the quarter, starting from 13K in the last week of September to just over 400 in the final week of December. The game's revenue peaked at 30K in late October, with a general downward trend closing at 13K by the year's end. Weekly active users showed a similar downward trajectory, from 10K in early October to around 6K in the last week of December.

Electronic Arts' SimCity BuildIt displayed more stability. The game's downloads saw a mid-quarter spike, climbing to nearly 3.5K in late October, and ending the quarter with over 3K downloads. Revenue trends were somewhat erratic but finished strong at 11K, while active users remained robust, ending the year just marginally below the 39K mark, from a high of over 44K in October.

Another title from Electronic Arts, The Simpsons™: Tapped Out, showed mixed results. Revenue saw a significant peak at 27K in mid-November, with a subsequent drop to 8K by the quarter's end. Downloads had a notable surge to over 6K in the last week of November, following a modest performance in preceding weeks. Weekly active users peaked at 52K also in late November, but ended the quarter at a healthy 41K.

Puzzles & Chaos: Frozen Castle, by BUILDING-BLOCKS NETWORK TECHNOLOGY CO.,LIMITED, had its revenue increase to 4K by mid-December, despite starting the quarter at under 1.5K. Downloads peaked at 1.3K in late November, while no data on weekly active users was provided.

Lastly, Microfun Limited's Merge County® saw modest revenue figures, maintaining around 2K throughout the quarter. Downloads showed an upward trend, from low double digits at the start of the quarter to over 200 by its close. Weekly active users had a slight increase from 1.4K to 1.5K during the quarter, indicating a steady player base.
